I hate to say it but OMG OMG OMG!! There I've said it. It was just an OMG weekend. I signed up as a volunteer at the Stargate Convention this past weekend and well. Let's just say I'm going to be doing a hell of a lot more volunteering in the future! The perks!! I not only got to go on the set tour of Stargate. I also got to have my picture taken with David Nykl and Joe Flanigan. I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest. Joe put his arm around me!! Ahhhhhhhhhh!!! He's soooo skinny in real life. He doesn't look like a stick boy on the tv show so either he's lost a lot of weight or they just make him look bigger on tv. Even though he's quite tall he's sooooo thin. I just thought my god someone feed this man! He looks like he's knocked his head on something as he had a little red mark above his right eyebrow. I can see it now I look at the photo in which I miraculously do not look like a complete ugly goober. Although Joe kind looks a little like he wishes he could be somewhere else. Though he kinda looked that way the whole day so I don't take it personally. When he was autographing that evening it was getting late and he just left the table he was autographing at and started moving down the line autographing on the way as fast as he could before heading out the door. Joe has walked the line and left the building we said.
I think one of the highlights of the convention though was when I accidentally told Paul McGillion not to stand in the doorway!! I was sitting just inside the door and was told to tell people not to loiter and block the doorway. So this guy comes and is standing in the doorway while Joe is onstage.
'Excuse me? Excuse me?' I said. Then tapped on his elbow. 'Excuse me. You can't stand in the doorway'. Then the guy turned around and it was Paul McGillion. Oh dear. 'Oh... nevermind' I said. He smiled and patted me on the shoulder before yelling to Joe that yes he did indeed kick his ass at wrestling. Apparently there was a bunch of volunteers and his girlfriend outside who saw me try to kick him out of the doorway and they were just rolling on the floor laughing hysterically. Oh well.
I got autographs and got to watch all the actors in their appearances on stage. Michael Shanks, Robert Picardo and Paul McGillion were so charming and entertaining. I missed Amanda Tapping as I had to get home in time for our Sunday evening dinner party. Joe was also great though I think he hasn't had quite as much practice at conventions as the others. They really know how to work the crowd. Especially Michael Shanks. The bear story. So funny. And Paul McGillion with the story about Joe's prank with the rocks in the backpack. Joe also added to that when he was up. 'What a sucker' he said. 'Paul didn't even realise until, like, the end of the day. I mean how can you not notice 40 pounds of rocks in your bag??' The story about the wrestling was funny though. Paul had him in a headlock and was all 'Do you give up' ' No!' 'Do you give up now?' 'Never' 'Come on do you give up?' ''Go to hell'. At that point Paul started yelling from the doorway.
Awesome weekend.
I thought about volunteering for next year too, but I'm too spoiled. I already bought my gold ticket. I'm always deathly afraid that I'm going to miss something.
